How It All Began

a special holiday that sparked a service

While accompanying my 86-year-old relative to Australia to visit family, I noticed just how much my presence made a difference. It was the small things—minding bags during comfort stops, guiding her through gates and security, assisting with documentation, navigating terminals, and simply being there with a friendly face and steady support.

Watching her reunite with her sons at the arrival gate was heart warming. She had said this would be her “last trip,” and that “going alone” was no longer an option. It made me wonder: how many elderly parents, families with young children, or nervous travellers were quietly avoiding travel because of their individual circumstances?

I also realised that for many professionals and families living abroad, visiting loved ones can be logistically overwhelming—requiring time, planning, and sometimes more support than they can provide.

With airports becoming busier, more automated, and support staff stretched thin, it became clear that some members of our global community face real barriers to travelling independently.

Within a few months, the idea began to take shape—and Flight Companions Limited was born. A boutique service designed to support travellers from gate to gate, offering care, confidence, and companionship every step of the way
